When having a VA report with 2 sections and 2 data sources (let’s say datasource1 and datasource2), and containing the following:

  • in section 1 a prompt from datasource1, a chart from datasource2 and an interaction between the prompt and the chart based on 2 columns (col1 and col2)
  • in section 2 a prompt from datasource1, a chart from datasource2 and an interaction between the prompt and the chart based on 2 other columns (col3 and col4)

When trying to change the columns for the second section, the columns for the first section also get changed from col1 and col2 to col3 and col4. It would be very useful if the report sections would be able to act independently and to set different interactions that affect only the current section of a report.

We are currently using SAS VA 7.1, however, the behaviour mentioned also reproduces in the version 7.3.

In this scenario, you must map all of the columns in each interaction. So, in the section 1 interaction, specify a mapping for col1, col2, col3, and col4. Do the same for section 2. If you want to change the column mappinga, add the new columns instead of replacing any existing mappings.
