The scrollbars showing within any pane (mainly within the program, but it happens whenever there is a vertical or horizontal scrollbar) are barely wide enough to grab with a normal mouse arrow. Need wider scrollbars please. Have attached screen for your convenience.

Plus if scrollbars are changed at some point please try not to copy MS Outlook where the scrollbars are invisible until you mouse to an area where they are supposed to be and then they appear when needed.  Please keep wider scrollbars visible at all times.

Thanks!

@Robert3 - There have been several posts on this issue already so good for you for adding it as a SASware Ballot item.

@Robert3 - I almost spllled my coffee when I saw your SAS Ballot post ! I was just about to add EXACTLY the same thing.

Yes, the scroll bars in SAS Enterprise Guide 8.3 Update 2 are way too narrow. I have never used a Windows product that uses this size of control. It makes navigation absurdly difficult and is definitely one of the things that users at sites I visit comment on and make them reluctant to move away from SAS Enterprise Guide 7.x

I also agree with keeping scroll bars visible at all times and avoiding the "where are you ?" game that some applications provide.

If some people want a narrow scroll bar, let us all have an option to choose.

There are a number of interface issues that I think need to be addressed in SAS Enterprise Guide 8.x, but I am going to have to have a good sit down and consolidate them into a coherent post.

If I could give this post a thousand likes, you'd get 'em.

That's the new fashion it seems. Did this concept come withW8? Or W10? Discoverability is so old!

Today's UI credo seems to be: The screen should have wide empty expanses, and elements made for user interaction should be camouflaged.

Great ! Now that three Kiwis are whinging, that's half the South Island I think 🤔, perhaps someone at SAS will comment and tell us that this one will be addressed.

The older the SAS Community get, the more likely their eyes are going to need a nice clear, interface, sort of, ahem, a bit like SAS enterprise Guide 7.1x offers.

Just off to compile my full list of user-interface items concerning SAS Enterprise Guide 8.x for the SAS Ballot. Does anyone have some extra paper..............?

Yes! Please SAS fix the dang scroll bars. They are so hard to see and it is annoying have to put my face within inches of my monitor see it or find where the bar is.

Agreed with what has been already said. The scrollbars are so small that it is difficult to use them. Please make them bigger.

This problem of narrow scroll bars is even more acute under SAS Studio (v5.2) and exacerbated by the very limited choice of themes. I had thought that this was originally just  affecting SAS Enterprise Guide 8.x, with it having adopted some new Windows 11 user-interface fad, but it appears not.

The very narrow horizontal and vertical scroll bars are unusable. How can SAS users with low/poor vision hope to use this product ? Where is the accessibility that SAS trumpets about ? At least give the users an option to choose narrow vs normal size, please !
