With the 'SAS OLDP Data Provier' it ist possible to create a pivot table directly out of a SAS cube; even without AMO.
Excel supports a 'takeaway' feature for cubes. When you are working on your pivot table there is (ribbon PivotTable-Tools, Menu OLAP-Tools -> Offline-OLAP) a feature to stor OLAP data local and work with it offline.
SAS unfortunately does not support this feature. When choosing this to save offline data Excel returns an error that there were returned columns that were not apprpiate.
