An Idea Exchange for SAS software and services

I'd like to see both General discussions and meeting announcements, but would rather not mix the two up.  More people, I'd think, would rather have General discussions that meeting announcements, but I think that both are equally important.  However, if I could ONLY have one, it would be the General discussions.

I like the idea of a forum where we can discuss SAS success stories.  It would give us a place to "brag" about the great things we are doing with SAS sofware as well as provide ideas for other ways that we can use SAS to be successful in our organizations.

@pgb, A Downsizing space is an interesting concept. Can you describe more about what kinds of conversation or documents you would expect to find in this space?

I would like to suggest a variation of the General Discussion space. I think that what is needed is a place to ask a question where it is not clear to the person submitting the question where it fits. Quite often questions are asked in the wrong place for one of three (or more) reasons:

  1. the person asking the question does not know where it fits
  2. it fits in multiple areas
  3. there is no forum/category for the topic

The job of the moderator would be to move the question to a more appropriate forum. This would also provide good insights as to what addition forums make sense based on demand.

I voted for a General Discussion space mainly for the same reasons as indicated by DonH.

Furthermore I also agree with the comments he made.

Additionally I think that for events there are, IMHO, already several places where this could be mentioned/announced.

Either on the SAS Events page or in other social sites like LinkeIn and/or facebook.

With regard to success stories: Maybe I misunderstood but my understanding of the communities (forums) have always been that this is a place for questions regarding the products and/or the use. Not so much to place "commercials".

Other: A forum for posting "wish-lists" - features and capabilities we'd like to see added to SAS

(PS. Some way of keeping me logged into the communities forum would be handy. It's pretty tedious logging in every time I use it).

Thanks for the suggestion.  We are always looking for ways to improve the interaction between SAS and our customers.  We are currently reviewing methods and features to facilitate this interaction, so your comment is very timely.

For now, please submit your ideas for features and capabilities using the Suggestion Form.  Then, be sure to visit the SASware Ballot frequently to vote for those features that you think are the most important.
