PROC CONTENTS: display the size of a SAS Data Set in a more meaningful metric
Excuse my frustration with this forum. Where is the article?
Do I need some special plug in to use this forum?
Why the need for strong passwords? It's just a forum, not a banking or credit card site.
THanks for the opportunity to vote. It now takes much to much effort to vote. Pleas re-evaluate your design for next year.
What would constitute a more meaningful metric?
You get the file size in bytes, the number of observations, the length of an observation, the number of pages and the page size. What else do you want? The number of bits in a byte?
Perhaps nanometers of disk space used? I agree, don't see how it could be any more meaningful.
Would have been good if have explained more about meaningful logic??????
How can this have any vote at all? Can you of the up-voters (or the OP!) explain what the suggestion even means?
Due the the increasing scale of the data in most environments, changing the dataset size displayed with a parameter would be nice feature. In my environment most datasets are serveral Gigabytes in size up to several terabytes. My users consider proc contents hard to read with the size only being displayed in bytes.
Something similar to the df command in UNIX would be functional enough.
