1.) To have a message of the day window appear when users startup a SAS client program such as Enterprise Guide or Data Integration Studio.
This message should be controlled by the SAS administrators, preferably through Management Console. It would also be useful to monitor when a user has had the message presented to them and maybe a check box for the user to check in order to say they have read the message. Or just a standard close window option that could be logged and monitored by SAS admins.
2.) To have a message window appear for all / selected groups of users who are logged into a SAS client program and have a workspace open in order to present information to the user (for example that the workspace server is scheduled to be restarted as part of regular updates)
We operate with metadata server and workspace server which the client applications connect to. There are many more staff in the organisation than there are SAS users and it has been raised that blanket emails regarding SAS messages are viewed as internal spam by the non SAS users. We currently have no direct way to contact just the users of SAS (either at the current time or all users in a given period) without many manual steps to extract current users on the SAS servers, determine their email addresses and them email them directly (email addresses aren't stored in SAS Metadata). Also we have no way of knowing if the user has read the message because email clients can be configured never to send read receipts, there may be other ways around this but I am proposing the above as one solution.
