On opening the window, it immediately loads impact analysis. Which I have to wait to fully load if I actually want to reverse impact analyse it. Not major, but time-consuming, especially if its a source file, as it loads every bit of metadata in the lineage.
Currently it prints the current screen rather than the whole flow, and you can't resize anything.
Please make it better. Options? Sizes? Fonts?
Also, can you make that window zoomable too (with ctrl + mouse wheel) , so you can see the extent of lineage without scrolling like a maniac.
Right click and drag to zoom into a section maybe?
Multiple normal-select, right click, open all?
Expanding and collapsing nodes will also be useful.
When I have the lineage open, especially for reverse impact analysis, I want to immediately analyse one of the elements (a table, or a file, for example). I don't have that option, only to Analyse Columns.
In general, while the analyse lineage capability is the whole premise behind DI Studio, it has some things that could be more user friendly.
Some sort of "full system lineage", while timely to generate, would be immensely useful in terms of determining where tables, jobs and flows interact at a macro level, before drilling down into the micro level.
There are loads of things, as a developer, I want to do from that window when doing impact analysis, and I can't do a lot of it.
Impact analysis is the backbone of ETL tools. Making this more functional would be a major help.
Edit: to cover more in terms of general data lineage, rather than the specific to one area.
Edit2: added expanding collapsing nodes.
