When SAS does an implicit conversion from numeric to char or vice versa, it generates the warning:
"Numeric values have been converted to character values at the places given by: (Line)Column)."
When using macros in big complex programs, it is nearly impossible to find out which variable is affected.
Thus: include the variable name in this warning message.
Like the idea, but of course this message is not always about converting a value from a variable, or 'affecting' a variable. It's just about converting a value. e.g.:
66 data _null_ ;
67 if '1'=1 then put "True" ;
68 run ;
