An Idea Exchange for SAS software and services

Viewtable offers what you want (form view, where, where also, where undo, hide vars, print, multiple tables on screen, etc) but is only available in the DMS. EG is not for power users and therefore has limited features.

I agree that the Viewtable tool in SAS/Display Manager offers the functionality I have proposed should be added to SAS/Enterprise Guide. However, most of the sites that I work on have adopted SAS/Enterprise Guide as their standard SAS interface, full stop, no exceptions.

SAS/Enterprise is a great tool and I would have to disagree that it is not for power users, but there is no reason that SAS cannot improve it for all users, by adding the form view style of browsing a dataset.

"Most" or "no exceptions"? In any case, while the trend is there (for licensing and cost reasons mainly, not for technical ones), it is wrong-headed and my opinion is that no amount of lipstick will make EG as it is now developed a power user's development environment. It was built as a querying tool and that's what it still is. Sas needs a real IDE. That's my crusade. Smiley Happy

SAS Enterprise Guide - Custom Tasks

Example: Observation Editor (C#) - shows a simple form to view a data source one record at a time, and commit changes using SQL UPDATE.
