Can you please clarify the pricing considerations for customers deploying SAS Viya on MS azure.
The $0.55/hr cost and the underlying infrastructure created by the deployment.
Does the customer own the infrastructure cost in the managed resource groups (5 AKS instances and 2 VMs + other dependencies) or only the cost to use Viya when logged into the instance and running jobs?
If the infrastructure is owned by the customer, can you provide best practice documentation for cost savings during off or unused hours?
Thanks
Customers are billed for both the deployed Azure infrastructure as well as metered usage of the SAS Viya software running on that infrastructure. For the SAS Viya software metered usage, there is an idle threshold. Customers are not billed for metered usage of the software during a given hour if the utilization is below the threshold.
Regarding the Azure infrastructure, we are working on enhancements to allow customers more control over the infrastructure costs when the software is not in use.
Update: Start and Stop is now supported, allowing you to save significant costs by spinning down the infrastructure when not in use. SeeStart and Stop SAS Viya 2022.10 on Microsoft Azure.

To get a rough idea about the Azure infrastructure cost, you can visit this link to find out the requirements (found on the second row of the table on the page) and then use the Azure price calculator to figure out the hourly (or monthly) figures.
Thanks. We did that, and so far, it appears accurate to real usage with the app deployed.
Around $2k + for those reading + whatever the SAS usage comes out to be.
@TCore here is a table based on hours you pass the threshold. Basically if you are just doing coding, flows, looking at a VA report Viya's resource usage is low, for the modelling, scoring, forecasting, optimizations you count the hours...
Quick calc on excel validated by SAS pricing team...
Hope helps
