Hi all

I am working with SAS VI 10.2.2 currently and dont have the access key for 10.3.1 documentation. I just wanted to check if anything has changed with the import files formats - i.e. whether other delimiters (semi-colons, or carats) are supported?

I currently convert data from asc files to a UTF-8 psv through a shell script so it isnt much of a problem, but just wanted to check anyways.

regards

Sundaresh

Hi Sundaresh,

I realize you don't have the Access key, but providing links for all to the latest.

VI10.3.1 Doc Link

VI supports the following file formats via Import:

  • comma-delimited file (CSV)
  • semicolon-delimited file (CSV)
  • text file (TXT)
  • tab-delimited file (TSV)
  • pipe-delimited file (PSV)
  • Microsoft Excel data (XLS and XLSX)

Note: You get an error if you try to import a file that has an extension different from the ones listed above.

Microsoft Excel data files are imported without change and are not converted before processing.

For Microsoft Excel data, the following apply:

  • You can import only the first spreadsheet in the workbook.
  • You cannot import a Microsoft Excel report.
  • Files are limited to 3MB. If you try to import a larger spreadsheet, you are presented with a message to convert the file to CSV and try to import it again.

Cheers,
Rick
