Tip: Unlocking code in SAS Visual Data Builder

SAS Visual Data Builder enables you to manually customize the code for your query. However, before you unlock the code, make sure that you save the query at least once. When you save the query, a step is added to the code to register the output table in metadata. If you unlock the code before you save the query at least once, the code to register the table is missing. The result will be a table with no columns in metadata. This is mentioned in the "Considerations for Manually Editing Code" in the SAS Visual Analytics 7.3 User's Guide: http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/vaug/68648/HTML/default/viewer.htm#n0xlm7xwg2dyern1ph1mh...

If you accidentally register the table with no columns, log into SAS Management Console, right-click on the table and select Update Metadata. This should add the column metadata.
