Given a dataset, only the first variable has been confirmed as an independent variable. There is no other info. How to build a model or run a regression?

SAS can easily get you information about what the variable names are, and which variables are character, and which are numeric.  So you would at least have that much to work with.

Suppose you had that, and you had printed a few rows of data from the data set.  How would you figure out what needed to be done, without any further help from computers?  (If you can't figure it out, then there's no way to tell a computer how to figure it out.)  How would you know what the dependent variable should be?

What is ANOVA?

ANOVA, or Analysis Of Variance, is used to compare the averages or means of two or more populations to better understand how they differ. Watch this tutorial for more.
