How to create a box plot for univariate?

How to use a proc box plot procedure to create a box plot for one variable where the syntax seems to require group variable in the plot statement besides the analysis variable?

PLOT Statement

PLOT (analysis-variables)*group-variable <(block-variables )> <=symbol-variable> </ options > ;

I only want to see the spread for the variable height in the dataset sashelp.class

Re: How to create a box plot for univariate?

Perhaps use a different procedure:

proc sgplot data=sashelp.class;
   vbox height;
run;

Create a group variable that has the same value for every observaiton in your data set.

Re: How to create a box plot for univariate?

Any of the GPLOT/PLOT procedures would be considered outdated. Use the SG Procedures whenever possible.
