I am reposting just because my original post may not have been so clear:
So I have 2 types of mice: B6 and IL6 mice (genotype effect-between subject)
Within each mouse, the left leg was loaded and the right leg was not loaded (loading effect-within subject)
We also had a group of B6 and IL6 mice that were underwent this loading treatment for 1wk and another group of B6 and IL6 mice that underwent the treatment for 2wks (loading duration-between subject).
I want to compare several bone structural and material properties in both the loaded and nonloaded legs
I think I should use proc glm to take into consideration the within-subject effect of loading (loaded, control limbs) and between-subject effects of genotype (B6, IL6 mice) and loading duration (1, 2 wks), as well as interactions between these terms.
I would prefer not to take the difference of the nonloaded and control but rather use a repeated measures term to account for the paired aspect of loading?
Is this a reasonable approach and how do I write the repeated measures code to account for the within-subject effect? Please help.
