How do I get rid of the negative sing. -123490 I have and I want 123490.

 

amt = -123490;

 

I want amt1 = 123490 without the negative sign.

if numeric. use abs function

 

data want;
amt = -123490;
am1=abs(amt);
run;

Hello,

 

If you only want to get rid of the minus sign when you display results in reports but

without losing the information in the dataset, you can use a format as follows :

 

proc format;
value noneg other=[abs()];
run;

data have;
x=-1;
run;

proc print data=have;
format x noneg.;
run;
