Hi! I'd like to know how I can zip datasets (SAS and non-SAS) , using X command in SAS.
We only have SAS 9.1 installed, and no existing ZIP programs in our computers. I've been trying the below code, but I won't get it to work successfully.
x 'zip myzipfile.zip /file/to/zip.csv';
I've also tried a gunzip code, but it's also not working.
Thank you!
You need to have some kind of zip software installed on the machine(s) where SAS runs.
Since 9.1 is ANCIENT (and not supported on current operating systems, which means you probably run a toxic system!), I strongly recommend to immediately update to the current version. It's free with your license, and not upgrading borders on the insane.

Thanks Kurt! I downloaded a 7-zip tool, incorporated the path of the 7-zip application in my SAS program, and was able to zip files and folder.
It's finally time to hack! Remember to visit the SAS Hacker's Hub regularly for news and updates.
