keep compression and alter password when using proc upload

Hi,

I upload a large dataset that is compressed and indexed from the local work to a remote permanent library.

Unfortunately, to keep these attributes as I upload, the only syntax allowed is :

proc upload inlib=work outlib=&libout;  select &ds;

which doesn't allow for passwords as far as I can see.

Now the permanent dataset is also password protected, so I need to specify the alter pwd when uploading.

How can I specify the alter password when uploading?

In other words, how can I upload a password-protected dataset without having to recompress it or re-index it after upload?

The only method I have found so far is:

-rename the compressed and indexed table before upload,

-upload

-check if old permanent table exists

-delete if it does

-rename uploaded table

This is very cumbersome, and there is no reason simply uploading should be. Any better way?
