Crontab can be used to schedule jobs in Unix via Unix SAS. To access crontab login to Unix and type crontab -e (Edit mode). This is a VI Editor. Press Esc Key and I for insert. Press Esc Key and x to delete.
Syntax for crontab is
* * * * * command to be executed
┬ ┬ ┬ ┬ ┬
│ │ │ │ │
│ │ │ │ │
│ │ │ │ └───── day of week (0 - 6) (Sunday=0 )
│ │ │ └────────── month (1 - 12)
│ │ └─────────────── day of month (1 - 31)
│ └──────────────────── hour (0 - 23)
└───────────────────────── min (0 - 59)
Example
00 08 * * 0-6 /home/test.ksh > /home.test.log
This would run the report every day at 8 AM. Make sure you invoke the sas from shell script. You would need some scripting knowledge to do this.
If you are licensing any part of SAS Intelligence Platform (that, do you have a metadata server), there is a GUI interface to cron in the Scheduling Server plugin in the SAS Management Console.
