Does anyone know if the future SAS feature roadmap will support the need for SQL database bind variables? The use of bind variables is critical to any SQL database engine to ensure scalability and performance. The support for bind variables is the responsibility of the client software communicating with the SQL database and is evident in almost all modern languages that can communicate with a database.
I have been in contact with SAS support previously regarding this issue before and they recommended using a stored procedure to eliminate the bind variable issue. The issue with this suggestion is that the stored procedure call also needs to be bound by the client further illustrating my point.
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM <TABLE> WHERE ID = 1
is no different to:
BEGIN stored_procedure(1); END;
Is there anyone who can help?
Many thanks in advance
