Proc Export

Hi

I need to export a dataset to create a new excel spreadsheet (not a csv and not DDE into an existing excel spreadsheet).

·         When trying to do so I get the following error “ERROR: DBMS type EXCELCS not valid for export.” (DBMS = EXCELCS is for connecting remotely), so it looks like I don’t hold the correct SAS/access interfacing licence?

·         Am I missing something here or is it just not possible to do with our current packages, which are

My code is:

proc export data = dat_expo

outfile="dat_out.xls"

dbms=EXCEL  /* I've also tried EXCELCS */

replace;

run;

Thanks,

Jude

Re: Proc Export

Run proc setinit; run; to see if you have the CONNECT and/or ACCESS to PC FILES Licenses.

Another option is to use ods tagsets.excelxp. No license needed.

ods tagsets.excelxp file="dat_out.xls";

proc print data=dat_expo;

run;

ods tagsets.excelxp close;

Re: Proc Export

Brief add to Reeza's solution, tagsets.excelxp actually creates XML and you may get a warning from Excel that the file isn't in the format expected given it's name. You may want to actually do a "Save As" from Excel to make an actual XLX or XLXS file.

Re: Proc Export

Or Try another engine if your file is in English.

dbms=XLS
