PROC SQL CAST

Hi,

can I use CAST in proc sql to convert into data types;

for example:

proc sql;
select cast ('10:56:49' as TIME);

quit;

Re: PROC SQL CAST

If you're using SQL Pass Through where the query is going to the database then yes.

If you're using SAS SQL then no. The corresponding functions in SAS is PUT or INPUT.

Re: PROC SQL CAST

As stated in your other thread, SAS isn't using the same syntax that your previous RDBMS does.

SAS uses ANSI 92 SQL, with some extensions.

If you get a syntax error in your SQL, please go to support.sas.com and search first. It's gonna be tedious to post  every similar issue here...

Also, there are some pretty good overviews of SAS SQL there as well.
