Missing value (".") in the ANOVA output table?

After running a stat analysis, I have "." (dot / missing value?)
in few of the F-value and p-value columns.

What is this supposed to mean?

thanks,

Re: Missing value (".") in the ANOVA output table?

Typically, that means that the model is over-specified. It is somewhat of an artifact of the way ANOVA reports results.

Say you have a factor, SEX, with 2 levels as an explanatory variable. Then one of the two levels will have a missing value in the ANOVA table, as two levels just provide for one degree of freedom for the test.
