For which type of Data sets can we use infile and Import procedure?

The INFILE statement is used for text files (and similar). The IMPORT procedure is used for a number of other data structures that SAS cannot read directly through one of its library engines. To see which applies to which, read the documentation for the INFILE statement, the IMPORT procedure, and LIBNAME engine.
