Can the following be avoided?: export of excel 2007 causes automatic backup

The question has been raised on other lists, but I haven't yet seen an answer. It's apparently not the result of one's Excel template file.

Anyone know how to turn it off so that automatic backups are not set as a default?

To make it more confusing, some users aren't experiencing it.
