- Focus your report by telling a single data story
- Understand why the audience is viewing your report
- Choose the simplest visualization for your data
- Use consistent fonts throughout: No more than two
- Avoid using color outside of your data visualizations
- Avoid images, unless pertinent to your data story
- Limit number of objects per section: Aim for 4-7
- Limit number of sections per report: Aim for 2-6
- Make your report accessible to all potential readers
- Create a focal point using white space effectively
