Hi There,

Could someone please confirm where exactly the conference will be held at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort? I think for the SASGF 2012 it was in the Dolphin area of the resort. Will it be in the same location for SASGF 2017? I was unable to find this information on the SASGF website.

Thanks,

Michelle

It would have to be the Dolphin as the Swan conference area is too small for all of SGF. But if you are wondering because you are booking a hotel room keep in mind the Swan is really a Westin so has the heavenly beds. Dolphin is a Sheraton.

P. S. us Disney Addicts just refer to these hotels as the Swalphin. 😀

Thanks for your reply Michelle. Swalphin - funny! Smiley Very Happy

The users program and The Quad is in the Dolphin. The Executive Program is primarily in the Swan. Hope that helps.

Thanks for confirming Gail. It's a shame to hear the executive and user conference are separated.

Kind Regards,

Michelle

Well, it will prevent us grubby programmers from straying into executiveland and having to be herded out by hotel flunkies. That happened to me at National Harbor.

@Davanden,

Print this design and paste on top of your favorite grubby programmer t-shirt.  You'll be admitted everywhere -- without scrutiny.

The good news is that the conference has grown so much that we can't all fit in one space at least at this venue. 🙂

Hey @MichelleHomes, you and I might just be catching up again with each other on a global scale for this Smiley Wink . Hopefully you'll be at WASUP week after next and I can give you another big Dave hug.

@ChrisHemedinger I think that t-shirt is great! My three "I ❤️ SAS VA" t-shirts are wearing out. Maybe there's a business opportunity to stand on the corner and make a few quid on the side. Hahahaha!!!

Great to hear from you @SelerityDavid and know that we may see you at SASGF too! yeah!!! Sorry I won't be going to WASUP this time. So our next catch up might be in Florida instead.

Yeah I love the tux style t-shirt - formal without being formal 😉

Cheers,

Michelle

What about Suga on December 8th? I should be there presenting too. We could paint the town red afterwards. @ChrisHemedinger, wanna come over for a big night? 😛

Oh no I miss seeing you present! I'm presenting and attending only our local user group meeting, QUEST, this quarter. Have some clashes that prevent me going interstate this time. I'll have to take a raincheck on painting the town red (although I prefer orange) for Florida! 😉

Doh! I'm presenting at WASUP and will present at SUGA if I'm in Canberra that week. So many of the same presentations get churned over and over that I decided to do something a little different. Here's the abstract. I think you would've enjoyed it (and not just because I'm presenting).

The Cost of Maintaining my SAS Platform

SAS Administrators are often faced with the dilemma of being responsible for keeping their SAS platform running well but often without commensurate resources to do so. It often comes down to the bottom line when someone asks, “What will that cost?”

The real question to pose is what does it cost by not maintaining the platform in lost productivity and remedial actions? These are usually far more significant with a complex suite like SAS. The proactive questions are, what are some of the problems we might face by not hotfixing or upgrading? What will it cost to implement a regular cycle of maintenance which suits our organisation? How much will we save by doing so?

In this session you’ll get insight in to a few real cases I’ve seen that will haunt you forever if you are in a no-maintenance environment. We’ll talk about what strategies you can take to management with proposals for a few solution options.
