SAS has provided an option "Description=" with SG procedures to add alternative text in the HTML web page. Are there similar options available for ODS RTF/ ODS GRAPHICS which allow users to add alternate text to an image file? Adding alt text is required for section 508 compliance so that a vision impaired person can use reader to convert the alt text to audible speech.
If currently there are no options available with ODS RTF or ODS GRAPHICS, are there any ways to add alternative text to an SAS graph (note: the graph will be inserted into an MS word document tested for Section 508 Compliance)?
Thank you for help.
instead of searching for "alt text" search for accessability Getting Started with the SAS(R) 9.3 Output Delivery System
The mentioning of 508 has been removed with 9.4 SAS(R) 9.4 Output Delivery System: User's Guide, Third Edition - Getting Started with the SAS(R) 9.4 Output Delivery System Would ask that using the previous mentioned mailadress at sas.
ODS RTF is dedicated format not the docx one. It was developed in 1987. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=10725
That is before the internet era with all those links. If that type does not support your required functionality it will stop there.
The docx type can be handeled using AMO.
ODS graphics is setting options for images. SAS(R) 9.4 Output Delivery System: User's Guide, Third Edition , Data tips are pieces of explanatory text that appear when you hold the mouse pointer over the data portions of a graph contained in an HTML page. (yep html functionality not everywhere possible)
Thank you for your help. Will review recommended links.
I'd touch base with tech support on this, I think they have implemented something along the lines of this.
