SAS Viya as a Kubernetes-based architecture requires a thorough evaluation of the compute and storage components. For some customers, existing SAS 9.4 infrastructure might suffice, but for others, it might require adding more capacity and replacing existing infrastructure components. Over the years, AWS has significantly improved storage options from EBS - IO2 block express to FSx ZFS, each with its unique profile and workload applications. In this presentation, we reviewed these storage options along with best practices and recommendations for SAS Viya on AWS. This includes a combination of file systems and block devices for providing the optimum balance of price and performance.
