Data scientists, forecasters and researchers in academia and various industries are increasingly developing and open sourcing new time series forecasting algorithms by using popular programming languages, such as Python and R. SAS Visual Forecasting software, which offers an open environment for large-scale automatic modeling and forecasting, now supports running programs written in Python or R in its new open source modeling node. This new modeling node makes it easy for users to integrate their open source programs into the SAS Visual Forecasting pipelines with minimal modifications. Once integrated, the user’s program is automatically distributed and efficiently executed by using the multithreading and massively parallel processing capabilities of the SAS® Viya® platform. The new node seamlessly fits into the SAS Model Studio pipelines and inherits all common features available to modeling nodes. This talk demonstrates using the new open source modeling node with examples.
