SAS believes that disabilities are not a limitation of the individual. Rather, disabilities arise when people are confronted with barriers in their environment. We also believe that the arc of human progress improves as we remove those barriers, closing the gap between progress and equal access to technology. SAS has been at the forefront of breaking down those barriers in the analytics space for people with disabilities. We have developed data visualizations accessible to people with visual impairments by utilizing sonification, we have enabled customers to create accessible reports, and we have created pathways for data scientists to participate in the analytics life cycle. In this presentation, we will show how individual users and organizations can utilize these features within SAS® software to create more equitable work environments and to communicate insights in accessible ways to even wider audiences. It takes a village to implement accessible analytics at scale. Every organization in the ecosystem has a role – from customers to suppliers, partners, developers and managers, assistive technology vendors and standards organizations. We must work together to remove barriers to data. The inequity of progress ensures there will be much work to do. However, SAS is up to the challenge. We also invite you to join us in this work to understand your challenges and help break down barriers together.
