To operationalize the usage of health care data and AI models in the clinic, PW Consulting collaborated with SAS and Erasmus MC, one of the top Academic Medical Centers in the Netherlands, to start an IT and health project in an ICU department. Hospitals often lack the ability to use the data that is present or deploy AI models and make them applicable. They struggle to operationalize their health data, make their processes more efficient, reduce costs and increase health workers' time spent on patients. This presentation will describe the outcome of that project, demonstrate the solution built in SAS® Visual Analytics with data-driven content and share insights into future improvements. The solution combines dashboards supported by ETL, analytics and AI models that are developed in a governed and validated environment and aligned with the ICUs and MCs' primary health processes. The first phase of the solution is fundamental to the data platform, and it is designed for scalability, where it can be easily enriched with more information from SAMDs, other data points and patient parameters or new departments. This initiative is an important step to operationalize health data and to support operational efficiency, better clinical decision making and improve the quality and patient safety.
