regrouping modalities of a SAME qualitative variable

[ Edited ]

Hello , I need your help !

I have a database with several qualitative variables and 2 quantitative variables.

Amoung them, I have 2 qualitative variables with 20 modalities.
I afterward wish to make a logistic regression.

But before , I would like  to reduce the number of the modalities of these variables.

For example, for the qualitative variable "center" there are 20 modalities and I wish to reduce these modalities in order to obtain clusters. For example obtain 5 modalities if the number of cluster is equal to 5.

For the other qualitative variable, there are also 20 modalities I would like to reduce them also .

Here is the code which I made:

PROC TRANSREG DATA = X

DESIGN NO PRINT ;

model class ( center /zero= none);

output out = tbc;

run;

proc varclus data = tbc outtree= tree;

var center;

run;

proc tree data=tree horizontal;

run;

But it does not work because I insist: I want to group the modalities of same and only variable one!

Will have you a code to proposeto me ?

I try to find the solution for a long time, I block for 3 days! I am discouraged...
Beforehand thank you for your help..

Excuse me for level of English, I am french
