Hi, I have an EG project which opens a set of tab delimited files and imports them. I used the import tab of the file menu to create the process flow elements. Thus I can submit this process flow to read the files each time I use the project.

However, I would like to be able to control the names assigned to the SAS data sets, that gets created. I noted that when I first built the process flow, EG assigned automatic names to the data sets (seen from the explorer). Is there a way to edit this so that the datasets get renamed?

Perhaps a little bit exotic, but still?

Regards

Poul

When you double-click the import task, you have the menu option "Modify Task" (or similar, in German it is "Anwendungsroutine modifizieren"). As soon as you open that, on the first page, there is a "Search" Button in the output section.

Another method is to take the generated code, put it in its own code step and modify the names there.

I am sorry. I need som clarification. You are saying, that when I have established the import task as a part of a project flow, then I can double click it? For me it just activates the task and re-imports the file. Later when I see the data, the Modify Task tab is visible above the data (not in the process flow overview), but activating that just brings me to the original 4 step import process.

Thanks for commenting though.

This is what I did in EG 4.3 when I tested it for myself. It may be that your local settings let the EG behave differently.

Anyway, the first page of the import task lets you specify the output SAS dataset. (As you noted, modify task leads you to the same pages that you did initially).

I can also right-click on the "Import Data(somefile)" task in the process flow to get the modify option.

Right-click on the task, and select "Modify". That will let you change the name of the resulting dataset.

The resulting dataset may be changed.

You get into trouble with the input-dataset (fixed) and appserver. It looks a Eguide design creating objects only be usuable as a one-off project.
