Hi, we would like to use the GIT integration feratures in Enterprise Guide 7.1 but we can not get it to work
Our SAS files, data and GIT installation are on a remote Unix server. Enterprise Guide is run on our local Windows workstations.
The SAS files are stored externally from the EG project on the Unix file system. GIT repositories are created on the Unix file system using the GIT executable.
Because the GIT repositories are not on the local file system EG does not see the the repositories and the GIT integration features do not work.
Cloning the Unix repositories is no option because the programs need to be run and tested on the Unix machine.
Is there any way to get the GIT integration in EG working with this setup?
Thanks in advance,
John
In a word, no. You have to clone the repo locally on Windows. Now...the Git server can still be on Unix or wherever you've got it, and the SAS programs can still run on your Unix server. But you can't access them from Servers->SASApp->Files-><path> in your project and still have the Git features enabled. The files have to be accessed from a local path where EG can detect the .git files for the proper metadata.

That was what I already feared.
Thanks for your swift reply.

I *think* the Git integration features in EG would work with Unix repositories if you expose them and open the files through a SAMBA share. Git clients (like EG) have to have file access to the working Git repositories.
