Optimizing Process time

hi all,

Actually I want to minimise the process time for my ETL.How can I minimise that time?

We are using left joins and sort In ETL.

and we are working on some variable which are in HINDI language so is it take more time than english variables?

what I should change that will reduce process time ?

Thanks in Advance

Re: Optimizing Process time

You have to wisely use your transform. For example, you said you are using left join and sort.

1.You can avoid Sort transform by using order by in SQL Join transform.

2. You need to careful about your sql see if they are too many case when try to get off with the help of where

3. In where clause, you should choose right set of columns

I liked it somebody using SAS in hindi language. Thats great.

I do not think variable name in hindi would make any difference.

Are you sure that, hindi would not make any difference?

because I can remove that variable(unnecessary variable).

Re: Optimizing Process time

Agree with @RahulG that hindi itself shouldn't affect processing time. Be sure though that you have the same encoding in your SAS session to avoid transcoding.
Efficient programming is covered in a SAS training with that same name.
