Extract large numbers from Oracle using EG Query Builder

Hi All,

  Is there a way to extract a column from Oracle that contains the number 2005101000000000716 into a character resulting column?

  I will be using the Query Builder Task in EG 4.3 (M3) with SAS/ACCESS to Oracle on a Windows 7 Platform.

  Something like a "to_char" Oracle function used in a SQL Passthrough .....

Thanks

Re: Extract large numbers from Oracle using EG Query Builder

Hi,

with EG 5.1 it is possible to format a numeric column to a string:

proc sql;

create table work.xxx as

select t1.id format=$CHAR25.

from db.tb1 t1;

quit;

You might want to look at the DBSASTYPE option, which allows you to specify a SAS data type to use for input processing.  This allows you to preserve/"print" the value of a large data type from the database in your SAS session by bringing it in as a character type, for example.

See:

SAS/ACCESS(R) 9.3 for Relational Databases: Reference, Second Edition
