How do I use the ExcelXP tagset when I'm using Enterprise Guide and connected to a server (i.e. not local)?

Thank you.

You only need to run the tpl code once per installation AFAIK. The TPL code is a plain text file. Open it in a text editor, paste it into EG and run the code and it will be the latest version.

I don't believe there's an automated way of downloading the file. You can look into having your IT set up a location that's shared between server and your systems or you can look at the COPY task for EG that allows you to move files from the server and desktop and vice versa.

You can use it as normal. The issue becomes the file must be saved to the server and then donwloaded to your local drive afterwards.

In order to access the tagset I need to use an include statement to make the tagset available (i.e. %include "C:\Users\excltags.tpl"; ), right? Do I just put the tagset on the server and change the include statement accordingly?

Do you have any suggestions for automating the process of transferring the file from the server to my local drive?

Thank you.

The ExcelXP tagset that was included in your SAS server install is available without the need to run the code yourself. It is available also from EG because all SAS processes run on your SAS server.

Try a simple test (assuming your server uses Windows):

ods tagsets.excelxp file="\\sasserver\serverfolder\class.xml" ;

proc print data=sashelp.class;
run;

ods tagsets.excelxp close;

Depending on your version of SAS it may not be the latest version though.
