I am just new to SAS. When I open Enterprise guide I get the error "unable to connect to local server". Can anyone tell me how I set the repository in this circumstance?

Tools-->options-->Administration, Repository and Server: check Automatically add local SAS server to server list if available. and , in Repository Manager...choose the appropriate repository

It looks like the Local repository on your local machine is set active. You probably don't have Base SAS on your local machine.

You might want to change the active repository from:
Tools/SAS Enterprise Guide Explorer/Manage Repositories.
