Hi all,

I finally installed EG 8 today and I really like what I see.

What are your experiences? Any downsides?

How hard was it to get used to some of the changes?

Are there any hidden gems one doesn't find easily without reading the documentation/what's new (that would be me all too often...)?

Thanks,

Patrick

For me the biggest improvements in EG 8.1 are:

  • The tabbing windows layout - much more flexible and just like old Display Manager
  • The ability to turn off EG project mode completely and just program
  • Multi-monitor support - you can drag windows from one monitor to another to make it a lot easier to compare results
  • One-click selective code submits

The biggest niggles:

  • Libraries limited to listing only 500 tables by default and then you have to manually expand the list (no way to adjust the 500 limit)
  • Some bugs related to procedure output not being produced with certain output settings

I've been using EG 8.1 for several months now and I found the transition from EG 7.15 pretty easy. Watching the video in this link is a good way to learn more: https://communities.sas.com/t5/SAS-Enterprise-Guide/Introducing-SAS-Enterprise-Guide-8-1/m-p/569293#...
