Has anyone had an issue with exporting to Excel and naming the worksheet.

In 9.1 we used the following code:
PROC EXPORT DATA= LIBNAME.CLIENT
OUTFILE= "/u99/sas/testexport.xls"
DBMS=XLS REPLACE;
SHEET="month list";

Enterprise guide doesn't seem to like the Sheet command

The same code should be runnable from within Enterprise Guide.

But if you are looking to use the point-and-click method of exporting data to Excel from EG, then you are correct -- EG does not currently support an option to name the target sheet.
