Datafile Creation in Work Directory Without it Appearing in the Project Flow

I am using basic programs such as the following to practice some of my SAS skills:

data char_values;

   input Age : $3. Weight : $3. Gender : $1. DOB : mmddyy10.;

   format DOB mmddyy10.;

datalines;

23 150 M 10/21/1982

42 220 M 9/12/2001;

I have a file that creates many of these simple data files.

I would like it if I could run that within my Process Flow, and have the multiple files saved to my work library, but not clog up my process flow window. There are about 200 of these.

Any suggestions? Can this be taken care of via code selectively?

Re: Datafile Creation in Work Directory Without it Appearing in the Project Flow

I don't think there's a way to do this with code.  The process flow is really an EG thing, not a SAS thing.

For example, assume you have EG on your desktop, attaching to a SAS server.  The SAS server doesn't tell EG to add icons for datasets to your process flow.  Instead, EG monitors (I assume) the datasets that are created during the SAS session, and decides whether or not to add icons to the process flow.  Since it's an EG decision, I think the EG option is your best way to control it.

Since I'm not a fan of datasets in my process flows, I generally set the option to 0.

Check the settings/options for EG. You can limit the number of datasets shown in the process flow.

Thanks. I have used that option before in the past.

I am just hoping that I can limit where the data goes via code. Any other suggestions?

As far as I am aware you can't avoid anything you run in SAS code in EG also going into the process flow. Nor is there anyway to clear your process flows programmatically. This is simply the way EG is architected.
