Column Truncated

Hello, I have (4) files I imported into SAS (alpha, beta, charlie, delta).  Each file has the same column names.  There is a column called Program.  When I import these 4 files, everything is imported correctly.  Whenever, when I do the following two data step, the Program column is truncated. Data xyz Set alpha beta charlie delta; run; Data xyz, Length Program $ 500.; Set alpha beta charlie delta; run: Thoughts?

Re: Column Truncated

Why is all what I write wrapped in lines???   I didn't copy/paste  anything.  I wrote out the code in this editor.

Re: Column Truncated

I'm not sure what's going on -- your line breaks don't seem to be coming through.  Are you using the full editor?  Perhaps experiment with a different browser if possible and see if you can pinpoint the conditions where this happens.  I can see that this hasn't always been the case for you.

Re: Column Truncated

You have comma's where you should have semi-colons. Is that part of the copy/paste issue or your actual code?

Re: Column Truncated

Chris - By Full Text Editor, do you mean the "Advanced Editor" in the upper right hand corner?

Reeza - the , is the copy/paste error.

I figured it out:  I had to put Informat and Format in.  Works now!  :-)

Re: Column Truncated

If you tried to edit the code and apply code-style formatting by adding some HTML tags, it's possible that the editor here stripped those out before publishing.  I've seen such things before in other places, but haven't done whatever steps it takes to see it play up here.
