Dear All,

We are currently working on Base SAS and SAS Enterprise Guide for most of our clientele. For a new RFP the business has asked the question- :

"strategy is to deploy and exploit virtualization wherever possible.  Please describe how your application supports virtualized infrastructure".

I have done a bit of research on SAS and found this article handy:-

https://communities.sas.com/t5/SAS-Communities-Library/Gain-real-time-data-access-with-data-virtuali...

This is quite handy and i understand that this is a concept that helps organization scale up their analytics integration capabilities without additional data storage and update the database schema. This refers to SAS® Federation Server - so if the community can assist me more with the above question as to how SAS supports virtulized infrastructure and would it be a type of a cloud deployment and if so would i have to go for a SAS server.

Thank you.

Shivi

Hi @Shivi82

@LinusH is correct, this is sort of vague but, this may be a good starting point.

Analytics for Containers Marketing Page

SAS Analytics for Containers - Resources Page - Docker, Kubernetics, and Jupyter Notebook.

Implementing SAS 9.4 Software in Cloud Infrastructures

This should be enough to get you started.

Best wishes,
Jeff

Federation Server is about data virtualization. I assume that you can deploy it on any platform that supports the system requirements, physical, virtual or cloud.
You might want your business counterpart describe more thoroughly how they define virtualization and the reason for this strategy. With this knowledge you will be more able to get them relevant answers.

Thank you for the reply.

Just another question- as we would be working on Base SAS for coding and reporting so would we have to bundle up these 2 applications adding to costs or does this virtulization enables to code as well.

Thank you.

Sorry, I feel that your question is too vague. You need to exemplify and describe the setup and work that you have in more detail, and what you expect from virtualization.
