If you’re using SAS University Edition as part of your plan to be a data scientist, besides getting good at statistical analyses, you need to become a master storyteller. Competent data visualizations are absolutely critical. Blog posts by two SAS data viz experts, Robert Allison and Sanjay Matange, will help you.
Sanjay’s blog Graphically Speaking focuses on the usage of ODS Graphics for data visualization in SAS. It covers topics related to Statistical Graphics procedures, the Graph Template Language and the ODS Graphics Designer. Sanjay is co-author of Statistical Graphics Procedures by Example: Effective Graphs Using SAS.
Robert has worked at SAS for more than 20 years and may be the foremost expert in creating custom graphs using SAS/GRAPH. His educational background is in Computer Science, and he holds a BS, MS, and PhD from NC State University. He is the author of several conference papers, has won a few graphic competitions, and has written a book (SAS/GRAPH: Beyond the Basics).
