When you first deploy SAS Data Loader for Hadoop (Trial Edition), the following message could occur after you click OK in the Settings dialog box in SAS Information Center: "An error occurred configuring Hadoop. Click here to try again or view the log."

If you receive this message, click View Log, and examine the entries to determine the cause of the error. Some common causes include the following:

    • The user ID is invalid. The correct user ID is root (all lowercase).
    • The password is invalid. The correct password is cloudera (for Cloudera Quickstart) or hadoop (for Hortonworks HDP on Sandbox).
    • The IP address is incorrect. Make sure you have entered the correct IP address for the Cloudera or Hortonworks virtual machine (for example, 123.45.678.910). To obtain the correct address:
      • On the right side of the Cloudera toolbar, right-click the connections iconconnectionsicon.jpg and select Connection Information. The IP address appears in the Connection information window.

      • For Hortonworks, the IP address appears in the console window of the VMware product.
