SAS university edition hanging issue

Hi,

Why SAS university edition just hanging up in "running". Desperately need it to work. I am using binary regression utility or the code. no errors in the code. it was working fine until about 2 days ago. Appears to be a server/system issue. please resolve ASAP.

Thanks.

Re: SAS university edition hanging issue

CLASS is for categorical variables. Pull your continuous variables out of the CLASS statement.

I would also look into the PARAM option. I've rarely seen a case where GLM is appropriate or what you actually expect.

Have you restarted your VM?

Ok. You need to provide more details. Not working doesn't tell us anything, explain the issue in detail and include screenshots if applicable.

Re: SAS university edition hanging issue

Save any code before running it.

There a number of syntax issues that can cause this condition and we would need to see the code to point out possible causes.

If you are attempting to do anything with macro programming there are many ways to have logic errors that won't stop.

If you are using a DO loop then your condition to end the loop may not be met.

Large data files may take a long time to run.

Sending large amounts of output can cause a long delay as SAS formats the output in memory and may take a long time. Proc Freq is a good candidate especially with BY group processing on a variable with many levels and summarizing many variables.

Models with very large numbers of variables.

Show us the code. If processing a data set indicate how many records and variables may be involved.

I didn't see an answer to the above?

And wha happens if you run the code without any selection or additional options? i.e. model statement has no options.

Re: SAS university edition hanging issue

6 variables are involved

datatset is not large at all

it does simple logistic regression with a couple of variables. i tried with three it also did that although not instantly. took a minute i guess.

proc freq and proc format for the whole data set was fine. havent use them since yesterday because dont need to now.

Re: SAS university edition hanging issue

In my experience, SAS UE is not great at displaying error message. I suspect you have an issue in your code.

I would remove options one by one or review the documentation to see which is causing the issue.

If you can post the dataset or a sample representative data set that has the same issue we can test further.
