Running SAS University Edition

When I try to run SAS University I get the following error.  When I try to run it again it tells me that there is no space left on the device.

I have successfully run this code in the past.

When I open and edit
the virtual machine settings under options, it will not run under Windows
10.

Are you referring to the VM settings in VMPlayer? It's running a VM that you shouldn't change any settings for, VMPlayer does work in Windows 10 AFAIK and I personally use VMWare for my SAS UE installation. The VM OS is Redhat Linux 64 bit I believe.

Hi,

A web search of the message shows the following link which might be of some help if you have had to update / reinstall:

http://support.sas.com/kb/54/109.html

Further, there is a solved answer to the same question in:

HTH.

Re: Running SAS University Edition

I went to my virtual machine settings but the processor number was greyed
out so that I could not change from 2 to 1. How do I get around that
problem? The other issue which I don't understand is that I am using the
VMplayer for at least 2 years with no issue, why now, what has changed?

Hi,

From the first link I sent you, did you complete step 1 for VMware Player "Power off your SAS University Edition session" before trying to change the settings?

Not "Pause" or any other such option.

This seems to be a step that others have missed.

Amir.

You can have 2 processors but not more than that. Did you update your SAS UE recently?

Or your browser? Apparently Chrome 67 (came out recently) is not playing well with SAS UE but if you use FireFox it should work.

Re: Running SAS University Edition

I do have two processors. The problem began when I updated my firefox
browser. I have tried to erase SAS UE and reinstall but for some reason it
seems to give me a text file and no information related to the license and
now my VMplayer has changed its http address.

It's possible whatever change Chrome just did, FireFox did as well, but I have no idea what you mean by a text file.

Yes, the address can change when you change the set up. Its not the same either, my desktop has a different address than my laptop for example. The exact URL is not important.

It is listed as a text document in the directory. Shouldn't it be an
application?

No, it's a .ova file, which is an image. It shows a blank paper icon usually, but that doesn't mean it's a text file if that's what you're going on. Or it's possible that the download did not finish, is the file about 2.2GB?

Re: Running SAS University Edition

I had tried to download SAS UE with Google Chrome ed 67 and that was why it
loaded as a text since the new version of chrome dose not interact well with
SAS UE.

I then used Firefox and was able to get the *.ova loaded. The current issue
is connecting my VM player workstation12 to SAS UE. When I open and edit
the virtual machine settings under options, it will not run under Windows
10. However prior to the browser issue it ran under Windows 10. Any
suggestions? I have a n image of my virtual machine settings.

Re: Running SAS University Edition

May I ask what version of VMplayer 12 are you using with Windows 10? When I
open my VM player this is what I see (Image 1). I then click on unbascv .
and then try to edit virtual machine setings. My options looks like the
second screen and when I try Windows 10 it is not supported see Image 2.
What should I do?

Image 1 and Image 2

I finally got it resolved by following the instructions from Problem Note. related to using VMware player.

Hi,

Well done on getting it working.

Those instructions you followed look familiar.
