Take a look at the troubleshooting section of the Install Guide ( http://support.sas.com/software/products/university-edition/docs/SASUniversityEditionInstallGuideWin...  ).  Sounds like you might be running into this problem:

Unable to Start SAS University Edition with an Unknown Status Code Error

When starting the SAS University Edition virtual image, if you see an error message “The launch

of the server process failed with an unknown status code”, you should view your virtualization

software’s settings for SAS University Edition. You cannot launch SAS Studio if more than two

processors are assigned to the SAS University Edition virtual image in your virtualization

software. Set the number of CPUs assigned to SAS University Edition to 2 or 1, then try again.

Hi AmyP@sas,

I get the same error message (Unable to Start SAS University Edition with an Unknown Status Code), however, I have doublechecked and the number of CPUs assigned to SAS University Edition in my virtualization software is set to 1.

Could you please help? Is there any other possible solution?

Many thanks!

Did the SAS University Edition work before? If yes:

- which operating system are you using?

- are you using virtualbox or vmware?

- which browser are you using?

No, it has not worked before yet, I was never able to fully start the software.

In any case, I am using Windows 7, virtualbox, and Google Chrome.

Thanks

If you can, try the VMWare option, it seems to be less buggy.

Re: It worked well but all the sudden, now it shows this warning message.

I have Windows 8.1 64bit on my laptop. And I use the SAS University Edition with both virtualbox and vmware. The virtualbox version I'm using is 4.3.12. Unfortunately the current vApp does not work with later versions. And if you have imported the SAS University Edition in a later version you'll probably need to reimport the SAS University EditionvAPP in version 4.3.12. If you continue to have challenges then it may be best to contact technical support so they can help to resolve the issue. Tech support: Support

Re: It worked well but all the sudden, now it shows this warning message.

Since the server process behind SAS Studio is a SAS Workspace Server, you may have developed problems in creating the WORK library (diskspace full condition in the VM). Or something was done with directory/file permissions.
