Inspiration can come from anywhere. Ask @Rick_SAS. He was humming one of his favorite Christmas songs, the German hymn "Lo, How a Rose E're Blooming," when someone asked him about using SAS to draw curves in polar coordinates. That got him thinking about "polar roses," mathematical parametric curves of the form r = cos(k θ). And that led him to create this fun, festive, end-of-the-year blog post, “Lo, how a polar rose e’re blooming.” Go over and check it out, then try it yourself. Yes, this will work in SAS University Edition.
Happy holidays, everyone! As Rick said: “Keep your eyes open: math, statistics, and beauty are all around you, ever blooming!”
